I would like to take an opportunity to talk to you. Yes, you.
I just wanted to tell you, simply and plainly, that I love what I have the opportunity to do here. I love to create. The cathartic nature of creative expression is, in my opinion, an incredible and unsurpassed thing. Every second of the creative process, from critically looking at what is trying to be expressed, working on concepts to express that thing, and then successfully doing so, is a wholly rewarding experience.
There's always that chance you'll find yourself pushing boundaries and exploring new ways of doing things. This exploration is an inherent part of this work, yet most other professions never have the space to even try. Creation is a frontier, and I'm lucky to be in the middle of it.
Between you and me, I think to take anything too seriously is a huge mistake. It's stifling. It really does bring into play so many factors that are counterproductive and maleficent. Don't get me wrong, seriousness is an essential part of life, and there are things I take seriously. I am serious about music, personal relationships, and video games among other thing. I certainly take my work very seriously. The thing is, though, I don't take myself too seriously.
People have a lot to say, and it is from people that I learn most. You'd be surprised how much a stranger can teach you if you are really paying attention, so I'd say paying attention is at the top of the list for interacting with people and projects. You learn a lot, and the best part is you don't have to pay twenty grand a year for it.
Finally, I'd like to let you know that I think simplicity is beautiful. There are many times where the defining factor of a design is a singular, slight change. Pushing too much into the mix tends to clutter things up. Simplicity is intuitive, and I strive to keep things as simple as possible.
